The push to end insecurity in Zamfara yielded result on Monday, with the arrest of nine suspected cattle rustlers in a community in the state. 

At least 700 cows were recovered from the rustlers in Bakura Local Government Area on their way to Sokoto State. 

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy, Affairs, Bello Dankande, briefed reporters of the arrest on Tuesday while giving update on the efforts of the state government in addressing insecurity in the state. 

"Yesterday [Monday], nine suspected cattle rustlers were arrested in Bakura Local Government Area moving with about 700 cows enroute to Sokoto State.”

He appealed to communities and members of the public to always support government and security agencies with information from their areas.

The state government has also suspended two district leaders for allegedly involving in acts that jeopardised the state government's efforts in checking the activities of the bandits. 

The state government claimed that they were involved in selling petroleum products to bandits somewhere in the state.
