If you have a new product that you have been chasing certification for, from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, your prayers have been answered.

The agency has reduced the number of days to get certification for a new product to just 20 days.

Before now, it used to take about 90 days.

While making a presentation at a sensitization workshop on the SON Act 2015 and the ease of doing business, the Director General, SON - Osita Aboloma said the measure is in support of the Federal Government’s Executive Order on ease of doing business through the reduction of timelines for test of laboratory products.

He said the agency has put in place strategies to ensure that test results from its laboratories are released to clients without undue bottlenecks.

In addition, the SON DG said the agency has also reduced the number of days required to obtain Mandatory Conformity Assessment Program Certificates but didn’t state specifically how long.

“As a deliberate strategy to enhance the ease of doing business to all stakeholders, SON has put in place measures that would ensure that tests results from its laboratories are released to our clients within 20 days of obtaining samples depending on the product,” Aboloma said.
