Yobe State Has 21 Days Or Doctors' Strike Will Begin
A total breakdown of healthcare service is looming in Yobe State.
The government of the state has just 21 days to address issues raised by Association of Resident Doctors in the state.
This warning was transmitted by the chairman of the association, Dr. Ali Mohammed.
At a press conference in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, Dr. Mohammed stated that the doctors at a congress meeting noted with dismay the reduction in their salaries for the month of May, at a time when government approved 100% CONHESS salary structure for medical workers.
Part of their demands are full implementation of allowances and automatic promotion of all the doctors.
They also want the state government to review upward the residency package and also deploy more doctors to medical facilities in the state.
The doctors are also seeking the commencement of Housemanship and Residency in government hospitals and the deployment of more facilities to the emergency unit.
