The Yobe Government will invest 11.32 billion Naira in its aviation sector.

It plans to begin the construction of an international cargo airport in Damaturu with the funds, an official of the government said on Wednesday.

The Commissioner for Education in the state, Mohammed Lamin said the cargo airport will facilitate transportation of goods in and out of the metropolis.

“This will contribute immensely to the growth of the state economy and improve the revenue base of the state,” he explained.

Apart from the airport project, another 440.27 million Naira was approved by the council for the purchase of furniture for offices, classrooms, staff quarters and hostels for five newly renovated secondary schools.

“The council approved 99.9 million Naira for the procurement of two buses for the State College of Nursing and Midwifery.

“It also approved 238.76 million Naira for the renovation of Model Primary School at Bayamari which is to be converted to Command College of the Nigeria Army,” Lamin said.
