They were friends and were suspected to be involved in internet fraud which later yielded a whooping N2m profit when ‘maga paid’.

The two friends, who were also suspected cultists, had a disagreement over the proceeds of their ‘hustle’.

The alleged member of Aye cult group, Muritala Babatunde, is now in police custody for the crime committed in Ijebu-Ode, in Ogun State.

The victim, identified as Oriade Adebisi, was murdered along with his girlfriend, Julian Eke Imaga, at a junction at Oru-Ijebu.

Speaking with journalists, Babatunde says he, accompanied by another cult suspect, Taiwo Rasaq, killed the victim because he refused to give him the money he realized from the internet fraud activities which was sent to Adebisi’s account.

Babatunde explains that he and Rasaq, on May 28, forcefully took Adebisi and his girlfriend to a nearby bush and smashed their heads with planks.

According to him, the decomposing bodies of the two victims were dropped inside the bush.

Babatunde says he killed Adebisi’s girlfriend to cover the crime which was carried out in her presence.

The state police commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, while parading the criminal suspects at command’s Headquarters, Abeokuta, says the suspects were arrested following complains by the victim's brother.

Iliyasu explains that upon receiving the complaint, the inspector general of police’s intelligence response team in collaboration with men of Ogun State police command embarked on technical intelligence-based investigation which led to their arrest.

The police commissioner says the decomposed bodies of the victims have been recovered and deposited at the General Hospital Ijebu-Ode, while the victim’s car has also been recovered.
