Gonzalo Higuain has emerged as one of the high profile omissions in Argentina's squad for their crunch World Cup qualifier against Uruguay and Venezuela.

This is the first competitive game for Jorge Sampaoli and he doesn't reckon with Higuain to deliver for him upfront in the must-win games ahead.

On the flip, Manchester City's Sergio Aguero has been recalled having been left out in recent games.

Argentina currently lie fifth in the South America qualifying section, occupying the inter-confederation play-off spot with four matches remaining and cannot afford any more slip ups.
