Woman Trying To Save Convulsing Child Dies In Kerosene Explosion
Tragedy has struck the family of Ezeh of Imeabali village in Ezzama community, Ezza south local government area, following the loss of a 26-year-old wife to adulterated kerosene explosion.
Mrs. Oluchi Ezeh, a mother of two, was trying to attend to her convulsing child, but died after an explosion occurred while attempting to put the suspected adulterated kerosene into their local lantern.
Her husband, Ezeh Ifeanyi was badly burnt in the process of trying to save the life of his wife and child.
Bounce News gathered that the deceased bought the kerosene from a black marketer at the popular Eke Imeoha Market the previous Eke day, not knowing it would cause her death.
While she was trying to pour the kerosene into their local lantern to enable her see clearly and attend to her son who was convulsing that night, an explosion occurred from the lantern.
The kerosene was said to have splashed all over her body, burning her beyond recognition, despite efforts by family members and neighbours to save her life.
The unfortunate incident also affected her husband, Mr. Ezeh Ifeanyi, who was seriously burnt in his attempt to save his wife and convulsing son.
The body of the victims have been deposited in the mortuary, while the burnt man is lying helplessly in his house with little or no attention.
Sources from the community called on government at all levels to put in place lasting measures to stop kerosene adulteration by Shylock marketers to avoid such deaths.
They also called for financial assistance from good spirited individuals, government, philanthropists and corporate bodies to come to the aid of the burnt widower, Mr. Ifeanyi Ezeh, to enable him access adequate medical care, attend to his children, bury his wife and cope with life.
