Nigeria’s bobsled team comprising of Ngozi Onwumere, Akuoma Omeoga and Seun Adigun, landed in Lagos on Thursday to a rousing welcome by fans.

The trio, alongside Simidele Adeagbo, who became the first African woman to qualify for the Skeleton category, will be participating at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

History was made back in November 2017, when the trio of Seun Adigun (Driver), Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga (brakemen) qualified Nigeria, thus becoming the first African team (men or women) to qualify in the Bobsled category.

Private companies have been identifying with the success of the team as they were received by Visa on arrival in Lagos on Thursday.

Also, Africa’s largest online travel agency, Travelstart and aviation giant, KLM Royal Dutch Airline, will serve as “Official Travel Partners” of Nigeria’s Winter Olympic contingent to the 2018 Winter Olympics

In addition, Nigeria Breweries Plc, has thrown its weight behind the contingent with a one-year sponsorship deal.

President of Bobsled and Skeleton Federation of Nigeria (BSFN), Solomon Ogba said in a statement made available to Bounce News that “The Federation is proud of this development and it can only get better. Be assured that our team is ready to achieve more in PyeongChang. We salute Nigerians for the support so far”.

The Winter Olympics begins on February 9.
