Nollywood actor, Ramsey Nouah is about to make history with a remake of the 90s blockbuster, Living In Bondage.

The movie title does not ring a bell and it’s not your fault, the movie was released in 1991 and you’re obviously a 90s baby.

The question then is ‘why are we going back to old school?’ and all of the reasons, the actor explained in a chat with Hip TV.

“The reason we went for Living In Bondage is very strong because we wanted to reenact one of the first movies in Nollywood, bring it back and see how that runs in the market.

“If you notice, Hollywood has been doing remakes or part twos and threes of (old) movies. So, we wanted to try it and we decided to go back.

“Besides it being the first Nollywood film, it was one of the most successful films at the time and it was shot in Ibo language.

Is this not a risk too early to take in Nollywood? Will today’s audience embrace the story line?

“Yes, its been a long time. The movie was done in 1991/92 by Kenneth Nnebue. So we are talking about 20-something years and the demography of those who saw the movie at the time hardly go to the cinemas these days.

“So, it took us quite a long while....we started working on it but we had issues with the script as we are trying to make sure that we don’t lose the original story and at the same time we don’t lose the market of today.”

Living In Bondage is a Nollywood classic that tells the story of a man who uses his wife for money rituals. I guess you can relate with that.

We wish you luck Ramsey.
