There is a huge difference between being fair and trying to be fair. The PDP's leadership learnt that lesson in 2015 and do not want a repeat.

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed Thursday, November 30 for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The meeting was called to discuss issues around the party’s convention scheduled to hold on December 9 in Abuja.

One of the issues to be discussed is the list of those that would conduct the convention.

Some of the aspirants have been mounting pressure on the leadership of the party led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi to constitute the committee.

It was gathered that some of the aspirants had met with Makarfi, asking why he had yet to name the convention committee members.

Makarfi has been accused of favouring a particular candidate for the position of national chairman.

A claim that has been denied by Makarfi.

NEC, which is the second highest decision-making organ of the party after the National Convention, is also expected to address the other grievances of the candidates and arrangements for the convention.
