While he is widely seen as the outsider in Thursday’s NFF Elections in Katsina, Chinedu Okoye, the Chairman of Bimo Sporting Club, a Nigeria National League (NNL) Professional Football Club side feels he is the most qualified for the top job.

In a chat with BOUNCE SPORTS, Okoye claims that from the four candidates vying for the Presidency of the NFF, he is the only one with an investment in the Nigeria Football Industry.

"I am the only Presidential candidate in the forthcoming NFF elections with an investment in the Nigeria Football Industry with my pet club-Bimo SC where I motivated my Swiss Business Partners to pool funds together with me to fund Bimo SC to the tune of over Fifty (50) Million Naira in just six months including Twelve (12) Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira for buying the NNL Bimo SC slot.”

An ex-Footballer in the Swiss League as well as a former Referee of the Swiss Regional League for 10 years, Okoye said he was moved to contest for the position of the NFF President for many reasons.

"I decided to vie for NFF President after watching with great dismay and sadness, how our Football was mismanaged, and our Football Funds looted money meant for the development of Nigerian Football were diverted and converted into personal pockets by some unpatriotic NFF persons mercilessly by some NFF Administrators.

“I had no option than to come forward and offer myself with all humility to lead our Football as NFF President after watching how a few persons turned themselves into a cabal and shut out majority of the Football Stakeholders from the Nigeria Football industry just because of greed, selfishness and corruption.” Mr. Okoye added.

Armed with his manifesto and already in Katsina for the Polls, Okoye said if elected he would bring about a transformation in football in Nigeria.

“I was pushed to come out to rescue Nigeria Football from the grave yard where it has been buried, after watching with great shock, the rampant Doping and Drug use being done by a lot of our Players in strict collaboration with some Club officials. In Europe where I come from (Switzerland), Match fixing, and Doping are serious offences that attract severe punishment.” He said.

Okoye said he would bring his Swiss Training Mentality and contacts into the NFF.

Amaju Pinnick the incumbent, Aminu Maigari a former President of the NFF as well as Taiwo Ogunjobi are the other trio that would be battling it out for the NFF top position on Thursday in Katsina.
