Why I 'Lied' About My Resignation - MFM Coach
For many, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu went too far when he openly boasted that he would resign once his team, MFM FC fail to beat El-Kanemi Warriors in the last game of the NPFL season; provided the game is shown live on television.
At the end, MFM FC were beaten 2-1 in Maiduguri on Saturday and the game was beamed live on the NTA network.
It has now turned out to be that Coach Ilechukwu never had the intention of quitting his job in the first place, but only 'lied' to fire up his players to give wining the league title their best shot.
The coach said he made the strong statement to the press after seeing that his players were already contented with the continental ticket they had in the kitty.
"Anybody waiting for my resignation will wait for long" the coach fondly called the 'Working One' said on Monday.
"I have started mapping out preparations and we are already looking at the players we will be bringing to beef up the team"
"I am still the MFM Coach and I not resigning, that was only mind game" the Coach added.
MFM FC finished second on the NPFL log for the 2016/17 season which saw them winning a spot in next season's CAF Champions League.
