Why Alao-Akala Sees Collapse Of APC In Oyo Except Buhari Intervenes
Most Nigerian states are at that time of the year when political parties are torn apart because of some internal crisis and selfish interest.
In Oyo State, there is a call coming from a man that is vying for the governorship of the state to the Presidency, with a plea for urgent intervention before the cookies crumble.
Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former Governor of Oyo State who is looking to grab the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, is asking the National Leadership of the Party, President Muhammadu Buhari and other Leaders of the party to come to the aid of the Oyo state chapter of the APC.
He says the party is on the brink of collapse, alleging "high-handedness of Governor Abiola Ajimobi and Imposition of candidate on delegates who will vote at the Primary Election of the party taking place tomorrow, September 30".
In a statement, the spokesman for ALAO-AKALA Campaign Organisation, Jeremiah Akande, said Governor Ajimobi had perfected plans to impose one Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe on delegates.
According to him the statement was meant to categorically put the leadership of the party and the general public on notice of the issue on ground.
Mr Alao-Akala also claimed that Governor Ajimobi had sent his foot soldiers around to coerce and Intimidate delegates to vote for the said Tegbe at the party primaries against their free will.
"His Excellency, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, a true party man and committed loyalist to any cause he believes in wishes to state categorically that he is not a push over in the game of Politics and as a well grounded and groomed politician who has occupied the number one seat of a Politically conscious state as Oyo state will not be part of any move or attempt to subvert the true will and wish of the people by the selfish interest of an Individual.
"The General Public should also note that Governor Abiola Ajimobi has clandestinely offered Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala the Ministerial slot of Oyo state in an attempt to pitch him against Adebayo Shittu, an offer he has rejected in it's entirety as he is not one to be tailored or shown the way round in the game of Politics," the statement read.
In what sounded like a defection coming, Mr Alao-Akala said he had "decided to "STAY AWAY" from tomorrow's macabre dance taking place at a yet to be disclosed venue due to the Insensitivity and selfishness of Governor Abiola Ajimobi who is hellbent on Imposing his stooge as his successor".
He then asked all supporters, well wishers and party faithfuls who believe in him to stay away from what he called a sham taking place on Sunday and await further directives.
