This is the question on the lips of many English Premier League fans who followed the transfer, especially on deadline day.

The 26-year-old was excused from international camp on deadline day to sort out his future as he attempted to leave Leicester City, where he was voted PFA Player of the Year as they won the Premier League in 2015-16.

Barcelona and Arsenal are some of the clubs linked to the Algeria forward, but reports later suggested that Riyad Mahrez tried to force a move to Manchester United.

The transfer deadline closed at midnight on Thursday, yet Mahrez was nowhere near Algeria national team during their World Cup qualifier against Zambia on Saturday.

Mahrez was not named in the starting 11, and was also snubbed from the bench as Algeria fell 3-1 to Zambia and possibly crashing their hope of making it to Russia in 2018, leaving football fans to ponder about his whereabout.

Maybe he would have saved Algeria from Zambia’s onslaught on Saturday, but that was not to be.

Algeria will host Zambia in the return leg on Tuesday, and all eyes will be looking forward to Mahrez’s return or not.

But one thing is sure, Riyad Mahrez still remains a Leicester City player, at least till January 2018.
