'I Will Never Slap A Police Officer Again'
Ogechukwu Ogbe must be a strong and brave man if he truly did this!
And he would have some bitter stories to tell.
He has been accused of slapping a Police officer, Sgt. Adisa Akinjide, and a Court Clerk, Ishola Rotimi, during court proceedings.
Another policeman, Abegunde Elijas, said Ogechukwu, who was disrupting court proceedings was cautioned not to make noise, but he bluntly refused.
Elijas alleged that the accused tore the policeman’s uniform and threatened to deal with both of them.
The policeman did not say if his colleagues gave Ogechukwu the beating of his life as expected but the 'accused' was arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court in Kwara on Monday.
Ogechukwu looked humbled and tamed. He face looked a bit swollen while he answered questions with a simple 'YES' or 'NO'.
He is standing trial on a 4-count charge of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty, interruption of judicial proceeding and intimidation.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 267, 155 and 396 of the Penal Code.
Magistrate Babatunde Immam ordered that the accused be remanded at Okekura Prison in Ilorin.
He adjourned the case till March 27 for further mention.
