Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's books, Essays and Voice have gone worldwide.

She has been recognised as the most beloved African author all the way in China.

Linguist Bruce Humes, a Chinese literary translator who has lived in China since the 70's and has identified 146 translated works from 66 African authors confirmed it.

"By far the hottest African writer among Chinese fans today is Nigeria’s Adichie," he said.

Apart from Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda is the only other Nigerian author whose work has been published in Chinese.

By having all her three novels (Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, and Americanah), lone short story collection (The Thing Around Your Neck), and two essays (We Should All Be Feminists, and Dear Ijeawele) translated to Chinese, Adichie takes popular issues like gender inequality, racism and immigration and given it a new voice.

So even though they are based around the lives of Nigerians, the stories are relatable.
