What Buhari Told Corp Members On Sallah Day
President Muhammadu Buhari is in Daura, his home town in Katsina State, and some young Nigerians serving their fatherland in the state visited him as Sallah celebration began.
Addressing the youth corpers, as they are popularly referred to, President Buhari described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a tool for national development.
He said he wants the corpers to promote national unity in their areas of primary assignments.
It was a spokesman to President Buhari, Mr Garba Shehu, that addressed the corpers on behalf of the President.
He assured them of the government’s commitment to the unity of the nation.
Buhari also said the NYSC scheme was the best reconciliatory scheme and would remain relevant.
"My administration will continue to uphold the unity of the nation," he said.
Mr Nnamdi John, who spoke on behalf of the corps members, commended the president for granting them audience.
He said that as corps members, they would continue to promote the unity of the nation through enlightenment and community development services.
It was all celebration for the Corps members, as they were handed 10 bags of rice, a bull and 250,000 cash for their Sallah celebration.
