Talks of a possible sack is already looming over Jose Mourinho at Manchester United as the Portuguese gaffer is only courting controversies and failing in his primary duties of getting good results for the Red Devils.

It is in this light that speculations are rife that Mourinho may get the hammer if he loses to West Ham United in the Saturday’s early kickoff in the Premier League.

West Ham United head into their Premier League encounter with Manchester United having put together a three-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.

Though United are also undefeated in five outings, but the EFL Cup exit to Derby County and tension between manager Jose Mourinho and midfielder Paul Pogba has led to a change in mood behind the scenes at Old Trafford.

More succinctly, United have only won just four of their eight matches in all competitions this season - despite having only played one of their direct title rivals - and Mourinho must get wins on the board in order to maintain any sort of a challenge for the top-flight crown.

Indeed, Mourinho has headache with what some of his key men are bringing to the table presently , with Alexis Sanchez continuing to offer little in the final third and Romelu Lukaku still to find top form after a successful summer with Belgium at the World Cup.

Concerns also remain at the back with only two clean sheets being kept all season, and only a number of chances wasted by Wolves led to United earning a share of the spoils last weekend.

Victory over West Ham this weekend could go a long way to improving matters both on and off the pitch, but defeat may only lead to Mourinho facing a fight to keep hold of his job at Old Trafford.

Saturday's clash in London will represent the 140th competitive meeting between the Hammers and the Red Devils, with Man United registering 65 victories in comparison to 43 wins for West Ham.

The Hammers have a dismal recent record against the Red Devils, with just two wins and seven draws coming from the last 19 encounters in all competitions.

However, West Ham were able to register a goalless draw in last season's corresponding fixture in May.
