'Wedding Party' Makes Case For A Part 3
"The Wedding Party 2," has grossed 312 million Naira in just 18 days.
The romantic comedy film has since its December 15, 2017 release, sold out in London and Nigeria.
Its success started after it made 20 million naira at the box office on its opening day, becoming the biggest opening day in Nollywood.
In just 5 days after opening, it’s box office revenue had gone up to 100 million Naira.
Directed by Akinmolayan, "The Wedding Party 2" boasts a star-studded cast that includes Ricard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Enyinna Nwigwe, Adesua Etomi, Patience Ozokwor, Ireti Doyle, Banky W and Daniella Down.
The success of the original movie which was directed by Kemi Adetiba plays a huge role in the sequel's record-breaking domestic and international success.
The original film grossed the highest revenue for a Nollywood film with 450 million Naira.
In the UK, the movie reportedly pulled in £16, 000 (7.8 million) to become the biggest single-day opening for a Nollywood film at UK cinemas.
With “The Wedding Party: Destination Dubai,” the “Wedding Party” franchise has made a historical 765 million naira.
This has made enough case for a third part.
