Wedding Ceremony Unites Gombe Governor, Predecessor
Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and his predecessor Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje are not at the moment best of friends.
The duo parted ways in 2011 after the general elections.
They however put aside their differences to attend the wedding ceremony (fatia) of the daughter of Umaru Kwairanga (Sarkin Fulanin Gombe) an APC chieftain in the state were on Saturday.
The political misunderstanding has over the years generated questions even between the two parties as Governor Dankwambo was once quoted as 'asking what initiated the predicament between him and his former boss.
Senator Goje had once said "I don't know what I did wrong that caused the problem between me and Dankwambo who used to be like a member of my family."
Goje raised the question on 10th November 2017 when the governor paid him a visit to condole with him and to also receive Aisha Buhari wife of the President who was in Gombe to condole with the family of the Senator over the death of wife Yalwa Goje.
The wedding ceremony which took place at the palace of the Emir of Gombe had members of the two rival parties in the state; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) had in attendance.
Gombe state governor Dankwambo and his predecessor Sen. Danjuma Goje and about five governorship aspirants from both party buried their political deference and exchange pleasantries at the wedding.
In an interview Sen. Danjuma Goje said "this is not a political gathering that is why you see us all come together to answer the call by our Emir and to celebrate with our brother."
