Dangerous weapons were discovered in a tent in Jakande Estate, Isolo area of Lagos State.

The weapons discovered included cutlasses, axes, machetes and other ammunition.

It was gathered that the weapon-filled tent was discovered around West Coast, a notable suburb in the area, around 7am on Monday.

The weapons were discovered by one of the residents, who found a bag that looked suspicious after walking past the tent.

He was said to have called the attention of other residents to the discovery.

Upon opening the bag, the dangerous weapons were discovered.

The residents set the tent on fire, while the weapons were taken to the Police station at Ejigbo Division and kept as evidence.

Bounce News gathered that the dilapidated tent had been abandoned on the spot for a very long time with no one being able to identify its owner.

A street trader in the area, who asked not to be identified told our correspondent on Wednesday that they suspect that the bag was dropped by some criminals after their operation.

“We think the weapons could have been used to commit crime. For now we are not sure who the owner of the weapons is."

This development has led to the residents seeking protection from the Ejigbo Police Division to guard against a looming disaster and insecurity in the community. In addition, the residents have called for security checks within and around the communities.

Although no one has been arrested in connection with the cache, the police are investigating the matter.
