We Pay For ‘Free’ Prepaid Meters – Gombe Electricity Consumers
The head of human resources at the Jos Electricity Distribution Company JED Plc Abubakar Alhaji says the company has no right to deprive anybody power in any of its operating states.
He stated this while addressing electricity consumers at a Customer Consultative Forum Meeting organized by the power distributing company in Gombe.
The meeting serves as a forum to discuss with customers and get feedback on services provided.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company JED Plc, Gidado Modibbo assured electricity consumers in Gombe that all complaints made on the activities of the company in Gombe will be addressed.
Community leaders and representatives at the meeting had earlier complained about the way and manner JED is operating in Gombe.
A member from Kwami west constituency Ahmed Abubakar Doho, who represented the Speaker Gombe State House of Assembly, said the company has not delivered on its mandate.
“We have received so many complaints and petitions at the Gombe state house of assembly against your company,” he said.
Some individuals who spoke at the meeting complained of paying for prepaid miters which the company claims are free.
The managing director highlighted low revenue generation and energy theft as the major challenges being faced.
“We know that electricity is the key to every development, so we are trying within our minimal resources to address issues and serve the people better.
"We can’t continue with the old ways of consuming electricity and don't pay, we really have to pay our bills to enable the company to serve us and deliver its mandate.”
