We May Resume Abuja Consular Services After Eid-el-Kabir – US Embassy
The news on Wednesday was that appointments for visa and for American citizen services have been put on hold indefinitely at the United States embassy in Abuja
No reason was given for the suspension and many Nigerians who had appointments in the capital city did not find it funny.
However, there is good news.
The US Embassy in Nigeria has stated in an updated information on its website on Thursday that the suspended consular services in Abuja may resume after the Eid-el-Kabir holidays.
It also stated that the services were suspended due to reasons beyond its control.
“We regret the inconvenience this has caused to our applicants in Abuja and hope to resume operations after the Eid-el-Kabir holidays.
“Please monitor the Facebook and Webpage of the U.S. Embassy for the next status update of consular operations in Abuja,” the message on Thursday reads.
It, however, noted that other offices within the embassy remained open.
The embassy stressed that consular functions at the US Consulate in Lagos were not affected by the development.
The mission encouraged applicants to contact the Consular Office in Lagos for immediate emergency travel.
