The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday stated that only an ‘act of God’ can stop the conduct of the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly election slated for this Saturday.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, stated this in Abuja while updating the media and observers on the preparedness of the commission for the 2019 general elections.

He said that the deployment of voting materials to the 774 Local Government Areas of the country would be completed on Thursday.

Yakubu stated that deployment commenced on Wednesday in ten (10) states. This he said would be completed on Thursday.

He also said that it had completed 100% the configuration of the Smart Card Readers (SCRs) which would be used for the accreditation of voters on 23 February and 9 March 2019.

He also acknowledged that there were reports of missing materials in some states.

The commission, he assured Nigerians, had made good progress in the area of logistics and was good to go.

He also said that only accredited diplomats would be allowed to move about as there was restriction on movement.
