Wayne Rooney perhaps had so much on his mind on Sunday as Everton were 'harshly' beaten 4-0 by his former club, Manchester United.

The 31-year-old is due in court on Monday, September 18 to face a drink-driving charge.

The English striker was stopped near his home in Prestbury, Cheshire and arrested last month.

He was later released on bail after being charged with “driving whilst over the prescribed limit.”

He is set to appear before magistrates in Stockport and some reports suggest Rooney will be pleading guilty.

It is understood that drink-driving saga is putting a strain on Rooney's family as the wife Coleen is considering a divorce as her husband was in the company of another woman when he was arrested.

Rooney and his wife already have three children and are expecting another baby.
