The call to scrap the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit of the Nigeria Police is louder than ever.

The incident took place at a petrol station in Delta State.

In the 59 seconds clip uploaded on twitter, there was an altercation between some youth and SARS officials, and the youth were heard daring the officers to shoot.

The officers, who were trying to leave the seen as it appeared to be going out of control, began to shoot sporadically.

Some Nigerians have begun a campaign on social media to #EndSARS.

But Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, told Vanguard that there is no plan to scrap the unit.

“Anybody calling for scrapping of SARS is an armed robber, let him come forward so that we can investigate him. Any complaints they give against any police personnel, everybody knows that we don’t hide it.

“We have a Public Complaints Bureau which handles complaints. So if anybody is calling for scrapping of SARS, we don’t need to be reminded that they are criminals just using the social media.”
