Officials of the Ikeja Electric probably did not expect what they saw at a community in Lagos state.

Residents of Ajao Estate area resisted attempts by workers of the power firm to disconnect their houses.

The incident, which was captured in a video posted online, showed a man in an IE jumpsuit on a ladder in the move to disconnect the power source.

Other IE workers in jumpsuits, and some policemen were also seen while a resident, holding a megaphone, sang solidarity songs.

On another electric pole some meters apart, one of the protesting residents of the neighbourhood sat on the ladder resisting another IE officer from climbing the pole.

A gun-slinging policeman warned the man sitting on the ladder to leave or face his wrath.

The man resisted firmly, stating that he is not there to engage in any struggle, but only to resist them from disconnecting the light.

The video was posted by Mayegun’s diary on Facebook.
