When Ifeoma Nwobu lost her mobil phone SIM card she thought her problem was just how to face the trouble of replacing it.

She never knew a higher and more devastating storm was brewing.

In a dark alley, Ibe Chitoo had laid hold of it and was in a joyful mood. He knew exactly he needed to do with the SIM card to enrich himself with some amount of money from Ifeoma's account.

He hacked into Ifeoma's account with the SIM and successfully transferred 455,000 Naira, but his trecherous act did not go down as planned.

Ibe will now spend six months in prison, as ruled by a court on Tuesday.

A Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court found Ibe, 28, who lives in Jalingo Taraba, guilty of theft and cheating and sentenced him.

The Judge, Mohammed Marafa, however, gave the convict option of 20,000 Naira fine ‎and ordered him to pay 455,000 Naira as compensation to Nwobu.

He said that if Ibe failed to pay the said sum, he would serve him additional three months in prison.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, had told the court that the complainant, Nwobu reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on November 24.
