If you live in Plateau state, you have two options; to celebrate Christmas with caution, or to spend it in police cell.

This is a warning for you to choose wisely.

The Police Command in Plateau on Wednesday, said it would arrest the sellers and users of fireworks as the ban on fireworks use in the state remained in force.

DSP Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) for the Command in the state gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos.

Tyopev said the alarming rate at which explosives and fireworks were being sold and used in the state posed serious security threat, hence the police would not spare anyone caught in the act.

“We have observed with total dismay the indiscriminate sale and use of fireworks within the Jos and Bukuru metropolis.

“The ban on the sale and use of fireworks in the state is on and so our personnel have been directed to arrest both the sellers and users of these fireworks without delay,” he said.

The PPRO advised parents and guardians to prevail on their children and wards to desist from the act.
