Waje Retires From Music
What would make the gifted singer Waje want to retire from music?
After the poor reception of her latest body of work received the singer says she cannot continue to be a musician.
In a deeply emotional 12 minutes, YouTube video the award-winning singer made it known that she was tired of pumping money into music when it was not yielding any tangible profit.
Waje continued by saying she had lost faith in music as it could not help her pay her daughter’s school fees, and added that maybe it was time for her to explore other opportunities.
Waje became popular after she featured on the now-defunct P-square's 2007 smash hit ‘Do Me.’
Music promoter, Kaycee Oguejiofor who spoke to Bounce News on this new development said,
"I do not feel sorry, I know she is comfortable as a person, maybe she is doing it to drive traffic because she is looking for people to sponsor her music.
She is being a typical Nigeria who are experts in blaming the 'system'.
Waje was paid almost like 15million Naira for one season as a judge of The Voice and she bought 12 million jeep, she did not invest it in her music.
Are you trying to compete in the same market with Davido or Wizkid or are you competing with yourself? Waje has no excuse.
Which extra thing did she do with the fame that she got? What did she use her brand to do? What did she do to make the income to keep coming? When the income came she spent the money on other things than her music."
See the video where Waje announced her retirement below, hopefully she would return to music soon.
