The West Africa Football Union (WAFU) has moved Nigeria's playoff tie against Cameroon to Monday to allow for the conclusion of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The playoff WAFU tournament, which is only meant for players in the local leagues, was initially scheduled for Saturday.

But the NPFL will be concluding the current season on the same day, leaving no chance for invited footballers to fight for their clubs on the final day.

After complaints from the Nigeria Football Federation, the match has now been moved by two days.

Ghana is hosting the 2017 edition and the Nigerian team will travel on Sunday after Saturday’s club engagements.

“As a result of this shift, the clubs who were very unhappy they will play the final games of the season without their best players, can now use their players.” Coach Salisu Yusuf said.
