The season has ended earlier than expected for France-based Nigerian goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama.

A knee injury which Bounce News gathered will require surgery has ended Enyeama’s season with Lille and by extension put paid to present talks of a possible return to the Nigerian national team for the shot stopper.

“Vincent Enyeama will be out for the rest of the season. #CourageVincent,” Lille tweeted on Thursday.

Enyeama’s forced absence has seen Lille fans expressing their sympathy for the Nigerian star and wishing him a quick recovery.

The former Hapoel Tel Aviv shot stopper, who had 101 caps for Nigeria before abruptly retiring in 2015, has played 34 times for Lille this season in all competitions.

He missed last Saturday’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Guingamp after having kept goal in all but one of Lille’s league matches this season.

Lille are 12th in the Ligue 1 table with 40 points from 34 matches.
