VIDEO: Police, Dino Slog It Out At PDP Protest
The demonstration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) taken to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has some moments that you should see.
Aggrieved by the final result of the Osun governorship election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday last week, the opposition party embarked on a protest, demanding that their candidate in the election should be declared winner.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola, who was trailing the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke before the election was declared inconclusive, later emerged winner.
While the protest was on Friday, according to Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, the police used teargas on protesters in an attempt to disperse them.
"Join me at INEC’s office where I am currently leading a protest against the Osun election robbery that was perpetrated against the PDP candidate Senator Adeleke.
"We will peacefully struggle to get his stolen mandate restored to him.
"I have just been teargassed by the Nigeria Police Force at INEC's office.
"Gunshots have been fired.
"This was and still is a peaceful protest.
"How can I be treated like this in a country I have fought for and invested in?
"This is madness, I came with words they answered with bullets!" he wrote on his Twitter page.
Senator Murray-Bruce then shared a video showing some police personnel pulling the Senator Representing Kogi West District, Dino Melaye, while other protesters scream his name.
"This is the video as best as we could get in the circumstances.
"We have a democratic right to peaceful protest and freedom of association.
"This act is unconscionable in a democracy," Senator Murray-Bruce added..
