The Federal Ministry of Health has released two anti-smoking adverts aimed at raising awareness concerning lung cancer and health risk for second-hand smokers.

The first advert states that 10% of the 6 million annual tobacco-related deaths are those of people who do not directly smoke a cigarette or use tobacco.

The second advert emphasizes the health effects of smoking tobacco to include lung cancer.

This may be the time to pay attention to yourself; how, where and with whom you hangout.

For the smokers, remember the Ministry of Health recently launched a campaign to ban smoking in public places including motor parks, shopping malls and health care centres.

The ministry said according to Section 9 of the Nigeria Tobacco Control Act 2015, once convicted, offenders are liable to a fine of at least N50,000 and/or six months’ imprisonment.
