Vacancy In Super Eagles
Do you have the right height, are you athletic and agile with sharp flexes?
The goalkeeper trainer of Nigeria national team, Alloy Agu has confirmed that there is an ongoing search for shot stoppers that can man the post for the Super Eagles.
Agu admits that there is a goalkeeping crisis at the moment especially with the repeated injury for hitherto number one choice, Carl Ikeme.
Though Agu reckons that the other keepers that have been called up in time past are good in their own right, the coach submits that getting new faces will breed more competition and that would be healthy for the team.
"It’s a pity this is the current situation in the team. I spoke with Ikeme the last time we saw in the UK for the friendlies and he was optimistic he was going to return soon but unfortunately he is still out injured.
"We have actually swung into action and are looking at other options both in the NPFL and outside Nigeria. We have confidence in those we’ve extended invitations to in the past but we think we need to explore a little more to give room for more competition,” Agu revealed to AOI Football.
The Super Eagles play South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on June 10 in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
