US-based Model Sues Nigerian Bank For 97M Naira
An American based Nigerian model wants money and an apology.
Nneoma Anosike wants Wema Bank to issue an apology in two national dailies in Nigeria and one in the U.S.
She dragged the bank to court for using her picture for commercial purposes without her consent.
The 22-year-old filed the lawsuit through her lawyer father, Frank Anosike, at a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Frank Anosike said Wema Bank used Nneoma’s photo for a commercial on Instagram on April 11, 2016, without her consent or her management’s.
According to her, she was close to signing a contract renewal with Ford Models Inc. when she was shown the bank’s advert with her face on it, jeopardizing the deal as a result.
She is now seeking an order directing the bank to pay N75m for the act.
An additional suit of 20 million Naira was filed against the bank for breach of her privacy by advertising her private correspondence.
Nneoma Anosike was a winner in the 2013 Elite Mode Look competition in Nigeria.
