To assist the Nigerian Army in combating crimes, the University of Ilorin has said it has invented a bullet-proof gadget, which has been tested and accepted by the Nigerian Army.

The vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem stated this at a press briefing heralding the 34th Convocation ceremony of the University.

Abdulkareem said "we are already improving our impact on the world and to our immediate society, and this is a gratifying achievement that will ultimately propel the University to the Zenith of global recognition, and reputation we desired."

The Vice Chancellor Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem said a total of 12, 108 students would be graduating during the 34th Convocation ceremonies.

"This is the highest number the University will be graduating in its forty-four years of existence. This success is an outcome of our tenacity to end the 2017/2018 academic calendar on record time despite the challenges we contended with at the beginning of the session," he said.

The VC said "out of the total 12, 108 students that will be convoking on Tuesday 23rd October, 2018, 10,330 are first  Degree/Diplomas graduates while the remaining 1, 778 are graduating with Higher Degrees/Postgraduate Diplomas. In the first Degree/Diploma category, we have 103 First Class, 2, 553 second class upper Division, 5,750 second class Lower Division, 1,660 Third class and 36 pass."
