UNIOSUN Reopens, Union Leaders Sign DSS Undertaken
Despite the fact that the issues that led to the closure of the Osun State University are yet to be resolved, the Senate of the institution had announced its reopening.
Academic activities will begin on Monday, 4th of June, 2018.
The university will be reopening four days after it was closed indefinitely as a result what the management of the university described as "notorious activities of some non-teaching staff".
The University was on Wednesday shut down following the industrial tussle between the management and some workers.
The non-teaching staff of the university accused the school's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Labo Popoola of financial fraud and reckless.
The workers, who are members of NASU, NAAT and SSANU,also accused the Governing Council of the university of hobnobbing with Popoola to wreck the treasury.
Although, the management has set up a panel to probe the workers’ allegations, the workers insist that Popoola is guilty and the panel should make public its reports and recommendations.
Before the decision to reopen the university was taking on Friday, Bounce News gathered from very reliable sources that the leaders of the staff unions have signed an undertaken to be of good conduct.
The undertaking was signed at the instance of the Director of State Security Service (DSS) and the erring staff were warned to desist from causing trouble on the campus.
