Only one African player is on UEFA's 50-man shortlist for their team of the year.

The continent’s sole entry in the star-studded list is Borussia Dortmund and Gabon international, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Interestingly, Aubameyang is battling against Nigeria international, Victor Moses on two fronts as far as football awards are concerned.

The Dortmund star is listed alongside Moses for the BBC African Footballer of the Year Award as well as the CAF African Player of the Year Award.

It is yet to be seen if this sole nomination on the continent will count for something for Aubameyang going forward.
