UEFA Champs League: Man United To Face PSG
Neymar, Mbappe and Cavani would be delighted to have been drawn against a very inconsistent Manchester United side.
United have had a horrible season so far falling behind EPL table toppers Liverpool by 26 points and are also 11 points away from getting a slot in the top 4.
After Sunday's disappointing outing at Anfield, Jose Mourinho says the new target would be to finish in 5th position.
His woes appear to have been worsened on Monday as United were drawn to face PSG in the round of 16 in Europe's elite club competition.
United’s defeat in Valencia last week meant they missed the opportunity to finish ahead of Juventus in their group after the Italian champions were surprisingly beaten by Young Boys in the final match of the group stages.
That ensured Jose Mourinho’s side entered Monday’s draw as one of the eight runners-up and means they must now face a resurgent PSG side which beat Liverpool to top spot in Group C.
Same Liverpool that crushed United 3-1 at Anfield.
Meanwhile, competition favourites Manchester City were handed what appears, on paper at least, to be the most straightforward task against Schalke, who have struggled in the league this season under 33-year-old coach Domenico Tedesco.
The first-leg fixtures will be split over two midweek dates, on 12-13 February and 19-20 February, with the second legs played over 5-6 March and 12-13 March.
