Super Eagles defender, Bryan Idowu made his debut in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night but he and his Lokomotiv Moscow teammates failed to get the result they desired.

They were thrashed 3-0 away to Galatasaray in their group D encounter at the Turk Telcom stadium Arena, Istanbul.

Tuesday’s game was Idowu’s second appearance of the season for the Lokomotiv and the Nigerian admits he and his teammates were largely the architect of their own misfortune.

Goals from Garry Rodrigues, Eren Derdiyok and a 90th-minute penalty from Selcuk Inan earned a matchday 1 win for the Turkish Champions, Galatasaray at the expense of Lokomotiv Moscow.

“Perhaps we were too nervous at the beginning of the match. The goals Galatasaray scored came from nowhere,” Idowu told

“For a while, we managed to control the game but not for long.”

Idowu is expected to keep his place in the starting line up this weekend when Lokomotiv Moscow face Zenith St Petersburg in a Russian League game on Sunday.
