It has been a phenomenal year for Croatian midfielder Luka Modric.

After winning a historic silver medal and the Golden Ball Award at the FIFA World Cup, Modric has added another achievement to his list by claiming the title of UEFA Men's Player of the Year.

He did so in style ahead of his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Egyptian star Mo Salah.

Modric led Croatia as team captain in their historic success in Russia mere weeks after winning the UEFA Champions League for a third consecutive time with Real Madrid.
