UCL Play-Off Draws: Nigerian Stars Get Tricky Tests, Liverpool To Face Hoffenheim
Nigerian stars hoping to make it to the group phase of the Champions League were on Friday handed tough contests in the play-off draws conducted in Nyon.
While John Ogu and Anthony Nwaekeme, who play for Israeli side Hapoel Beer-Sheva, are billed to face Slovenia champions, NK Maribor, Emmanuel Emenike and his Olympiacos teammates will face-off with HNK Riejka.
Also, Aaron Samuel who plays for CSKA Moscow has his Russian club drawn to face Young Boys.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been drawn to face German side Hoffenheim in the Champions League play-off.
The Reds are making a return to Champions League football after a long spell and they will be keen to make it into the group stage proper.
On their part, Celtic will be taking on Astana, who they beat at the third qualifying round last season, with a narrow 3-2 win on aggregate.
In some of the other pairings, Mario Balotelli's Nice had the toughest draw as they are billed to face Napoli.
