UCL: No Goal For Ronaldo, But R/Madrid Beat Bayern
UEFA Champions League top scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo did not find the back of the net inside Allianz Arena on Wednesday, but his Real Madrid side beat host Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg semi final clash.
Ronaldo tops the UCL scorers’ chart this season with 15 goals, trailed by Liverpool trio of Roberto Firmino (10 goals), Mohamed Salah (10 goals) and Sadio Mane (8 goals).
In Wednesday’s game, Bayern Munich took the lead when Joshua Kimmich broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, after putting the ball past Real Madrid goalkeeper, Keylor Navas.
But with just a minute left to round off the first half, Marcelo drew level with a fine shot.
After the break, substitute Marco Asensio wasted no time after replacing Isco, as he put Real Madrid in the lead in the 57th minute.
That goal happened to be the winner for the Zinedine Zidane tutored side as they look to defend their Champions League title.
Real Madrid will take two crucial away goals into Tuesday's second leg at the Bernabeu, while Bayern could be left to rue their multiple missed chances.
