Bayern Munich beat Besiktas 3-1 in an early kickoff to ease into the final eight of the UEFA Champions League.

The second leg played inside the Vodafone Stadyumu in Turkey, confirmed Bayern’s superiority with an 8-1 aggregate score after a 5-0 first leg result.

The German side went ahead through Thiago Alcantara in the 18th minute to kill off any lingering hopes of a miracle recovery by the Turkish team.

An own goal by Gokhan Gonul in the 46th minute extended Bayern’s lead before Vagner Love reduced the deficit for Besiktas in what happened to be their only goal in both legs.

An icing on the cake by Sandro Wagner six minutes from time completed a 3-1 win on Wednesday, and an 8-1 victory on aggregate.

It was a record 11th straight victory in the competition for coach Jupp Heynckes, who had led Bayern to the title in 2013 before retiring, and returning this season.
