Nigeria’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles have qualified for the semi final stage of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations currently taking place in the Niger Republic.

The Flying Eagles who are seven-time champions of this tournament booked their place in the last four after a hard-earned 1-0 win over hosts, the Niger Republic on Friday in Niamey.

Adamu Alhassan scored the only goal for Nigeria as he expertly converted a 73rd minute free kick awarded to the Flying Eagles.

With the victory recorded, the Flying Eagles have zoomed into the semifinal of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations and by extension qualified for the U-20 World Cup to be staged in Poland later this year.

With Nigeria and South Africa both sealing their places at the World Cup on Friday, three of Africa’s flag bearers at this summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland have been know.

Senegal, who play Burkina Faso in Maradi on Saturday, have already picked a ticket while the Burkina are eliminated after two losses in as many matches.
