The chance of playing in European clubs competition this season is over for two Nigerian strikers, Henry Onyekuru and Emmanuel Emenike.

Onyekuru's Belgian club Anderlecht finished bottom in their group despite securing a rare away win over Celtic on Tuesday night.

The win recorded in Glasgow was Anderlecht's only victory in this stage of the Champions League.

However, the result was neither good enough to get them a passage into the next phase of the Champions League nor even drop into the Europa League.

It was also a similar case for Emenike's Greek team, Olympiakos who even fared worse; securing just one point in six games.

Last year's runner-up, Juventus, had to wait until the last group game to qualify.

Juve won at Olympiakos 2-0 and joined group winner Barcelona, which beat Sporting Lisbon 2-0.

It wasn't all gloom for Nigerians on Tuesday as Aaron Samuel's CSKA Moscow, who almost caused a stir at Old Trafford settled for a place in the Europa League after missing out on a Round of 16 ticket in the Champions League.
