Two Men Remanded For Stealing Women’s Clothes
It's not Valentines Day and Mothers Day has passed. So why did they go looking specifically for female clothing to steal?
They do not run a laundry business or sell female clothes but they were found in possession of missing women’s clothes.
Sadiq Shehu, 38, and Kasim Ademola, 36, will be spending some time in prison for allegedly stealing one Hollandis wrapper and a gown in a shop.
They are facing trial for criminal conspiracy and theft before a Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja.
The Prosecutor, Umoh Inah, told the court on Monday that the items belonged to one Hajiya Amina Okunlola of Asokoro, Abuja.
He said the Hollandis wrapper is valued at N35, 000 and the gown is valued at N80, 000.
They were stolen from Okunlola’s shop located at Area 11 Plaza, Abuja.
Inah said Okunlola reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on May 5 and the police found the stolen items with the accused persons during investigation.
In spite of this, both men pleaded “not guilty” to the offences which contravened sections 97 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, adjourned the case till July 21 for hearing.
It would be interesting to see how Sadiq and Kasim defend being in possession of the clothes.
