Twitter plans to ban cryptocurrency adverts on its platform.

The social media platform has followed Facebook and Google  to sanction this digital money platform.

The San Francisco-based company announced that before weekend(March 30), it will launch a policy that prohibits advertising of initial coin offerings, ICOs, a form of crowd-funding used to raise cash by creating new coins.

Also included in the ban are adverts that promote token sales and crypto wallet services.

The clamp  down will also limit adverts from crypto-exchanges.

Twitter said it was trying to prevent  crypto-related accounts engaging with its users in a deceptive manner.

Facebook  began their restrictions  in Feburary, while Google will begin their ban on crypto-related adverts in June
