A sad incident occurred along Aninri axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on Monday.

A Police patrol team on duty allegedly shot at a moving lorry with Registration number DNG 612 XA; which resulted in the death of one of the passengers.

This has caused a big storm within the Enugu command, but what the people want is justice for the dead.

The Enugu Police commissioner knows this, and he has quickly promised the people that no`trigger-happy’ policeman would go unpunished in Enugu State Police Command.

Mr Mohammed Danmallam, said that he had ordered a full-scale investigation by the state Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (CIID) into the unfortunate incident, adding that those behind the incident had been arrested.

According to him, policemen are always guided by relevant orders concerning the use of firearms and as a policeman, you must be professional in your handling of firearms.

Danmallam, however, regretted the inconveniences caused by the alleged incident which brought about the blocking of roads to other road users by those in sympathy with the alleged victims of the incident.

“I am assuring members of the public that those behind the incident will not go unpunished, if found wanting,” he said.
